EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN SOUTH CAROLINA
Postdoctoral Training in Mental Health Disparities. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of the Medical University of South Carolina is accepting applications for a full-time clinical psychology postdoctoral fellow. Based on the scientist/practitioner model, this fellowship emphasizes training and development of psychologists who will assume leadership roles in research, teaching and clinical service within the area of health disparities. Specifically, this fellowship in mental health disparities will include examining mental health problems across cultural groups, evaluating differential efficacy of interventions, and increasing access to services among traditionally underserved populations (e.g., ethnic minorities, rural populations, Spanish-speaking populations). Fellows will participate in ongoing research projects (e.g., data collection, data analysis, writing manuscripts) and will develop new research projects, including preparing and submitting grants for extramural funding. Work distribution will include 80% effort devoted to research in mental health disparities with 20% effort towards clinical services with traditionally underserved populations, including community-based services. The stipend follows NIMH fellowship guidelines. We especially invite and encourage applications from members of ethnic and racial minority groups. The Medical University of South Carolina is a non-discriminatory affirmative action employer. For full consideration, applications should be received by March 31, 2010 and will be reviewed until the position is filled.
